which 70-200 ( Canon )

looking at getting a 70-200 and leaning towards the f4 is. I would mainly use it for motorsports and fast auto focus is a must.

Can anyone comment on the speed of the autofocus or should I be looking at one of its big brothers, I have used both versions of the 2.8 is and like them both but wondering if I need to spend that much.

ive got the f4 non is and its plenty fast enough,you dont need is for motorsports anyway so save a bit of money there and spend it on a 1.4x teleconvertor for a bit more reach

I have just bought the f4 non is version and the auto focus is lightning fast. Although if your into motorsports then maybe the 2.8 would suit better.

Steve I think f4 should be fine, I aim to shoot at f5.6 or higher or not enough of the bike is in focus and for sidecars higher still

Chris an extender is on my shopping list as well, I have recently bought a 300 f4 is from here and want one for that when I want the extra length so like you say it is more affordable if I don't go for a 2.8 version
