Which 77mm Polariser

Looking to buy a new CP for my canon 17-55 2.8 IS, but im stuggling what to choose, ive narrowed it down to these :

Hoya pro 1d
Hoya HD
B+W mrc (not KSM version)

Which would you choose and why?

I stopped using Hoya since my Minolta days. Been using B+W (Kasemann version, mind) and I'm very pleased with them.

Another option, may be worth to think about, are the Heliopan, or the Marumi DNG ?

I used to have a pro1d until it met with an accident of my making. Replaced it with a hoya hd- the coating is a big improvement and functionally it's great. The B&W 105 is also great so imagine the 77 is the same.
I would either go with the hoya hd or the b&w. Don't think there is much between them- things to look for in CP's are the coating, thickness for vignetting and also if there is a front thread if you intend to attach an adapter for GND's etc.
At these levels there's not much between them- heliopan etc- they're all good

I will be wanting one with a front thread to attach gnd's ect, i can get a hoya hd for £70 brand new, ive been told that i wouldnt need a slim version as a standard thickness would be fine on my 17-55... I dont want to be spending more than £60-£70.

Prices do fluctuate a bit and I'm sure my 77 was about £60 with postage but due to the well run society we are in you'd be hard pushed to get that these days.
If you can get a new Hoya CPL HD for £70 that's probably as good value as you'll get- it can take an adapter, is easy to clean and won't vignette at 17mm.
There's a bit of hassle with using GND's/ND's adapted onto 77mm CPL's but you pay for the convenience of using 105's. If you set the 77mm and then use a microfibre cloth to stop it rotating when you screw in the adaptor it will overcome this to an extent.

Hoya HD. It is as good as any, perhaps better, plus it only loses 1.2 stops off the overall exposure, as opposed to 1.7-2 stops of most others. That 2/3rds of a stop saving will come in handy one day.

You perhaps don't need a slim mount, but if you're screwing a grad in front then it's best to grab every spare mm you can. Hoya HD fits the bill either way.
