Hey all

I bought a D7000 recently, it has a 18-105 lens, but I would like to go beyond this range for when i do Trackdays and the like

i was thinking about the Sigma 120-400 F4.5-5.6 lens @ £650

suggestions?

Not a bad lens, better than the nikon 80-400mm and reasonably fast enough to cope with standard conditions that the UK weather will throw at you, alternatives are the larger sigma zoom's 50-500mm and 150-500mm, extra reach, but slower lenses (f6.3 @ 500mm) or a prime like the nikon 300mm f4 with or without a 1.4x or 1.7x TC. Depends which side of the fence you are and whether you're close to the action or shooting through safety fences

you can go a bit cheaper and get the 70-300 VR :)

Most race circuits nowadays 400mm minimum unless your accredited and can get on the inside of the track.

Problem with circuits is you need both long length along with a wide aperture. Which escalates the price significantly :(

If the budget can stretch a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 would be a good bet?

Did look at that, but way out of my budet unfortuantly, they are £2,000

Already have it, I bought one when i had a D40 with the kit lens (18-55) so it was ideal
but now the new lens is capable of 100mm, i belive the 70-300 one is a bit of a waste
