Hi i need to get a back up body for my 5D mk2, it would be mainly used for action/sports with a 70-200 F4 and/or 100-400, or as a second body for weddings.

Aside from the price difference what are the high iso noise levels like between the 2? I like th idea of the price of the 7D but the sealing and build quality of the 1D3 is also appealing.

Any users of both? Which focusses faster? Any recomenations?

cheers

While it has been around a while for sports I would still take the 1D3 over a 7D. It was made and built for it

Hope this helps

1d3 beats the 7d in noise and image sharpness too, 7d files are bigger but don't capture any more resolution, i'd take the 1d3, much better camera imo

Look at my kit, kinda says it all.

Love the raw files from my 1d3 they have a special quality, and the camera is built like a brick outhouse.

1D3 handles noise very nicely, and produces very sharp results, except it is only 10MP. That shouldn't be an issue in your case.

Had they kept 7D at 12MP and made it clean, they could have a winner.
