Which Budget Telephoto

Hi Guys

I want a Telephoto to add to my standard kit lens. I own a D3100.

I know there are 3 lens that fit my criteria and budget of ~£200.

Nikon 55-200
Tamron 70-300
Sigma 70-300

I know on the Sigma and the Tamron I need to take into account my crop factor of 1.5 so that makes them more like 105-450mm but they have a macro mode which could be useful as I don't have a dedicated lens yet. But they are considered soft once they go above 250mm.

Is it best to stick with Nikon or one of the other brands?

I know prices slightly out of my range is the Nikon 55-300mm, is that worth the wait?
 
Don't put too much stock in the 'Macro' modes.

In reality they don't offer anywhere near macro focussing - just 'A little bit closer than normal'

Buy the best lens of the bunch, which appears to be the nikon, then try macro with something like a raynox DCR-250
