Which Camera bag

Hi All,

I'm after a camera bag for use constantly whilst in Africa, I generally carry my camera and a 100- 400 zoom and want a quick and easy bag to use mainly just for this set up. I do carry smaller lenses but find I do't need to carry such a big bag that I have, and only rarely use the smaller lenses. I need to keep covering it up due to the dust as I drive around a lot. Do't mind having a bag to carry all the gear but ideally want one for the zoom set up that will fit into the larger bag. There are so many on the web, but its difficult to visuallise them and there aren't the shops near me that carry much choice [Cornwall].
Can anybody recommend an ideal set up please?

Many Thanks

I'd highly recommend a Lowepro bag, they have a vast amount of options that would suit your situation very well.
I recently got a 'Lowepro Apex 140AW' to carry my 80-200mm Zoom and my Camera with a standard 50mm lens attached. This bag suits my purpose perfectly, i can fit everything in, including a little table tripod, 2 rolls of film, my little point and shoot camera and more if i had the desire to.
It's a nice small bag which is what i wanted.
However you say you will just have a zoom setup, and there is a perfect bag for that too. The Lowepro 'Toploader' series.

I recommend the Lowepro 'Toploader' series as this sounds like just what you are looking for, it fits the camera into the bag with a zoom attached and you just slip it into the bag when you arn't using it, i personally don't own one, nor have tested one; but i can vouch for Lowepro all the way.
I don't know the policy on links, but if you search Amazon.co.uk for 'Lowepro Toploader', you will find your ideal bag in a nice range of sizes/colours etc.
Also they are relatively cheap for a high quality bag. If you go for one with AW on the end of the name (that means 'All Weather'), those ones come with a handy raincoat which folds out over the bag, its been a life saver for me so far so i recommend getting one with AW.

Hope i have been of help :)
Steve.

A camera and 100-400 is quite a lump to get into a bag, so you may find you are governed more by width/depth of the bag than anything else. Might be worth measuring your setup to check against manufacturers internal dimensions.

Happy hunting!

I i missed the part about the 100-400, yeah that might cause a slight problem Lol. Maybe you could get some kinda 'non' camera bag and just use it as one, just about any bag would stop dust and dirt etc. there just wouldn't be that much padding i guess.
