Which camera out of these 3 deals?

Hi people.
Right been speaking to a few lads about DSLR's and now i got a few options i can take, i will list below

1.
Canon eos350d digital slr camera, 18-55mm lens, additional dedicated flashgun, spare battery, memory card, in mint condition very little used.
£320 posted All i would need is a tripod and the bag im getting so call that £50 extra is near enough £400.


3.
Canon 30D...comes with all accessories 2 x original batteries, box, leads, charger, manual .. etc ...
£280 posted would need to buy a lens, mem card, bag and tripod which im looking at about £150 extra which is £430



What do i do people??
 
what is the flashgun supplied with the 350? That could make quite a difference.

Assuming that it is NOT a good Canon one then I would say the 30d.
 
you need the one you feel most comfortable with, so go to the shops and try the cameras and also consider Nikon, Sony Pentax as there is more than 1 manufacturer.

In fact there are some really good body plus 2 lenses deals at Warehouse Express on the sony range

its just out of them 3!
 
I'd go with the 30D out of them three. To me £320 seems a little bit much for a 350D with kit lens, unless of course the flash gun is a fancy one, but then I guess it would say if it were.
 
I'd open my wallet for the 20D setup as I can't see any real benefit paying £130 extra for the 30D (assuming that the overall condition is similar). The £130 would buy you a half decent secondhand flash if needed.....or a few other bits and bobs that come along.

I would have to agree with Bob, the 30D had no significant changes over the 20D, thats why they released the 40D not so long after releasing the 30D, I still have fantastic use out of my 20D, good solid camera, will depend on shutter actuations, but should be good for 150,000.

Personally I preferred the handing of the 20D compared with the 350D when I bought mine several years back, felt more comfortable to hold and less the control less confided.

When you say should be good for 150,000.
Do you mean shots?
 
We can count the 20D out as its sold now.

so its the 30D or 350D
 
the entry level 350d is quite small, and the menu system wasn't as easy to use as the 30D which has the wheel at the back and lots of custom settings. Also, the 350D shutter life expectancy wasn't that high in comparison to the "prosumer" 30D

I've had one of each and the 30D is a joy. Personally wouldn't consider .the 350D at that price but appreciate you're going to need some glass for the 30D - Should be able to pick up a used kit lens fairly cheaply or splash out a bit on a new Tamron or Sigma.
 
30D every time.
 
I wouldn't have thought a 350d was worth half of that nowadays, judging by the price I've seen 400ds go on here. Of the two, the 30d would be my choice, you'd be wanting rid of that kit lens with the 350d in a shortwhile anyway...

Shutter actuations (i.e life of camera shutter unit) which would cost you about £200 replace if the camera has been well used, so important question to ask seller. There are plenty of used 20D's on the secondhand market at the moment, london camera exchange has some listed.

Makes no odds really, I've seen Canon cameras fail with 25,000 actuations on them, it's just your Donald Duck.....

Yup, that seems a bit expensive for a 350D with a kit lens. You should be able to get a 400D with lens for cheaper than that (I know I did). I would go with the 30D any day.
 
30D - buy a kit lens off ebay for £30, a bag for under £30 (always deals on shop stock) and Redsnapper Tripod n head. Thats about £160 with a memory card on top of the camera .

Kit lenses aren't great but if you're shooting landscapes at F8 and above then its not too bad.
 
30d = winner

Should really add i have used both cameras, so 30d easy!
 
Can't add anything about the 30D sorry but just wanting to comment on the price of the 350D. From Ebay I picked up my 400D with kit lens, 4 batteries, card and the genuine Canon battery grip for 300 quid all in. So definitely worth shopping around and perhaps getting a better deal on the 350 if that is the one you want.
