sorry if this in the wrong section:help:

being a complete camera virgin:thinking: i would like a little advice off some experts!!

what i'm after is a camera good enough to take pictures og my dog's working(i use them for picking up at shoots).maybe a little taking shots of those shooting and my girlfriend rides horses. so i'm looking for something good enough to take photo's of something moving in reasonable qaulity.

as this would be my first camera and not quite sure if i can point something in the right direction(my girfriend always says i miss:lol:) i'd like to get the cheapist one availible.but don't mind spending money if that happens to be £200/£300+

thanx for reading ruus:thumbs:

people have told me to look at a canon 350d or a fugi finepix s7000.

but can't tell me if they're good enough for what a want.

sorry but whats the difference with an slr and a bridge camera?

i dont mind spending more, that was just an example.but being new to this i don't want to go silly if A;i don't like it and B;i'm crap

I have just bought a Canon 400D off ebay with loads of extras, for £250, I cannot tell you if this would be ideal for what you want as I am a complete novice myself BUT what i can say is, its well in your budget and it is a good camera.

Your theories are the same as mine donot over spend in case you donot like it etc etc that why i bought second hand

ive been looking on ebay.but not sure what to look at:lol:

i dont mind second hand if it means i get more camera for the money:thumbs: as long as i won't be buying a lemon.

A bridge is in the middle of an SLR camera and a standard digital camera.
It has the ease of use of a digital camera with some of the benefits of an SLR camera which can be good for a starting point.

I had a Canon 400D a few years ago (gave it to my dad and he still uses it) and its a great camera for venturing into the world of photography. You can get a decent little lens to stick on the end of it and away you go. The 350D is getting on a bit now so the 400D would be a better option, younger and less chance of failure. Cant comment on Nikon but their entry cameras too will be just fine for what you want to do, just need to find something in your budget range.

Hope this is helpful for you.

Cheers

I got told by a relative to buy either a canon OR a nikon,, so all i did was go onto ebay and look for these 2 makes and decided my budget was £200-300 so i had to pic a camera that came in that range.
The newer the better but even if it is older as long as it has not taken many pics then it should be fine too.

Ask the seller questions and check his feedback, another good tip is get some one that is in the know to check out what your looking at, thats what i did and was well pleased

Good luck mate hope you get what you are after at a good price

P.S if its too good to be true then it probably is.

paul,thanks for all your help:thumbs:

do you think the canon 400d would be the better camera?

and what sort of lens would you recomend i might need?

Ive used a 350d and whilst they are getting dated now I could get some pretty good results. I now have a 450d, and havent used the 400d. But I will say buy whatever you can afford. Obviously more money gets better stuff, but for starting out i'd say a 350d would do just as well as the 400.
