Tis the wife's birthday soon and she agreed to a new camera. She's not into photography in a big way but I thought the Mk1 Sony RX100 would be a good choice as I could maybe get a wee loan of it now and then. :) But it's not on her list she drew up. Would I be right to convince her this is the way to go or is it too much to handle for a casual snapper? Your thoughts please.
 
She knows that the colour of it is all that matters.

Unless you have four testicles and can afford to lose a couple of them, stick to her list.
 
I've had the snip. I don't need testicles. I'd gladly give em up for that nice wee compact. Her list is Coolpix P520, S9500, P330, Sony Cybershot DSC-WX300, HX50, Coolpix L320 or L620. What do yo think then? Testicles or one of these? ;)
 
Just in case I take cold feet about loosing the testicles, what would be the best pick of those mentioned above?

You mean you got scared and now want to keep your testicles or she has out rightly refused any input from you?!:lol:
 
The Lumix LX7 should be considered.

Also don't forget, the person taking the photos is more important than the camera they use.
 
I'm playing cards close to my chest actually. She'll love whatever I buy for her I'm sure. I'm more interested in buying the best I can for her. But if she really has her heart set on a particular camera I will buy her it. At the end of the day I want her to be happy and everything else is just a bit of a laugh. :)
 
EDIT: Didn't read the op properly.

I'd get her a little Canon S110 or S120.

Get her to look at the pics people take with them on Flickr perhaps? Clearly it's not the be all and end all but I think it is useful for getting the feel of how people use the camera and what it's about. A bit. Oh and the LX7 is nice as what Ricardo said...But from her list the P330 is quite capable!
