thanks but I was looking more for a softcover manual

when I got my D40 the Nikon manual was rubbish
and i bought "D40/40X Guide by David Buschs

and it was so much better to use

I've always got the Field guide's for the Nikon D40/D60/D80/D90 that I've owned in the past..

I have had the Magic Lantern but didn't like it as it was in B/W & seemed cheap...

As for my D300s I got David Busch's D300s Guide to Digital SLR photography(its a size & half).. & was highly recommended (was a task to get hold of when I got my D300s thou) also has a table/guide to help you with various set-up's

He does one for the D5000 Amazon... if you can get it I'd go for that...

i got a d60 as my first and the manual (just from pc world ) and use that sometimes for this camera as its the same thing really....

I looked at that for the D300s but went for the DB one in the end... Mainly due to the review/recommendation...
