Hi,

i currently have a Panasonic Lumix LX5 whichi have had for a few years which i have really enjoyed using and found the quality to be very good for the type of camera it is but i am now looking to get a DSLR price rage is around £500-£600

i am currently travelling for a few months so will be using it to take all sorts of things from Landscapes , temples , historical sites but my main passion will be sports.

I dont know a massive amount about DSLR camera but i have done a bit of research and have found Canon EOS 700D for £550 including lens.

I would be greatful of any further advice and ideas on which camera.

Many thanks

Hi & welcome :)
First, don't forget to allow money in your budget for a better than kit kens as you will need it for your sports.
Second, can you get to a shop to try handling a few bodies?
Any current production DSLR from any of the manufacturers will have similar IQ to it's competitors (what more £s gets is better build & more features) but they will vary in handling between brands & what suits you may be different from what suits me & that may be different again for the next guy.

As Scott says, when you've put 'including lens' I presume this will be one lens that comes with the camera, you'll need more than one lens to really get what you want out of the camera.

Welshnoob is right, you might find the standard lens a bit restricted and will want to spend extra to allow you to capture all the images on your travels... The 18-55 is somewhat limited at the wide-end and for temples I was switching to my 12-24 in Sicily...

If you were just happy with camera and standard lens then there is a lot of choice from all the brands....you really can't go wrong.

Well for the majority of things he mentioned the 55mm would probably be ok for, maybe not sports mind.

thanks for the response guys, i will go to a shop and check out a few different ones for 2 or 3 months until i get to Australia i will use the standard lenght but once i get a job over therre i will look to buy a better lens.

thanks
