Which flash for D5000

Not sure which flash unit I should go for I am mainly wanting to use for macro, are the cheap ring flashes for sale on ebay for aroun £40 any good
or should I aim for something like a SB400???:shrug:

I don't do macro but bought an SB600 for my first flash as it is more flexible than the 400. You can then get a flash macro bracket from Fitp and a flash cord.
