Depends on you're budget and what you want it to do / how much you're going to use it...
I bought one of the Canon 430EX flash units and for me (as I don't use it very often) it's great and was within the budget I wanted to spend. It will also work as a slave unit to one of the more powerful flashes that have the master control should I want / need a 2nd flash...
As above, I have a 430 EXII, sees very little use, but more than adequate for most casual users I would have thought
Think Andy and myself must share pretty much the same views photography wise, seem to often agree with his suggestions and have seen him do the same with my comments
I bought myself a Yongnuo 467 (the mk1) and have been well happy with it, ttl and slave capabilities, managed to get mine for £30, think the mk2 is around the £50-£60 mark on fleabay
I also have the 430 EXII. Excellent flash - if you don't need master/commander functionality - but perhaps a little pricey for occasional use? The Yougnuo units seem to get good write ups on these forums.
