OK so I have just got my Fuji x100s as 35mm is what I use the vast majority of the time. I've come from a canon 5d2 and 35mm. But I'm looking for what to get as my second body. I will be getting used to the x100s first but I'm thinking whilst the xpro1 offers with a free lens that I will probably go that route. I could do with something that would be good for portraits too so options for the free lens seem to be the 60mm macro. I'm not overly fussed with having the 18mm and would prefer the 35 I think but obviously I can't not have the 18. The other option is the xe1 with the 18-55 (and the free 55-230 which I dont really want) but I do prefer primes normally. Any thoughts?
 
I have to admit I rather like the look of the new 56 f/1.2 from Fuji. I'd pair one of those with an xpro1 but I get that its not available as a free option.
 
xp1 + 18 + 60, sell 18 as soon as you get it and buy the 35.... wait for 60.
 
You dont need to, sell the 18 and buy the 35 on a next day delivery, after selling the 18 and the cashback youre looking at £100 spend more than the 18, its by far a better lens for only £100 more.

Alternatively, tell the missus when the cashback comes through she can get her hair done.
 
Forum £210-220 delivered, Ebay £240 delivered. Keep it sealed and it should fetch those figures.
 
Guess it depends on whether you can live with only the 18mm for 4 weeks while they process the 60mm! Id bet you cant.

I get my black x100s tomorrow. Think it's going to be a match made in heaven. Btw the 23mm 1.4 is incredible. Was going to get rid to part fund the S, no chance.

The 35mm is a wonderful lens. 18mm values are taking a huge hit 2nd hand though.
 
I mainly shoot film on 35mm and 120 cameras. I used an X100 for low light work and loved it. I have just upgraded to an X-Pro1, I have not been disappointed, it handles beautifully and delivers very nice IQ. I have enjoyed using the 18mm and shot with it this weekend almost entirely at f2 to put it though it paces, again I have not been disappointed. I can really recommend this combination. I also have a 35mm and 60mm and didn't shoot with either as the 18 mm kept me occupied!
 
I think I may just stick with the 18 and the 60 for the time being. I don't really need the 35 so I can just look for a good deal somewhere down the line.
 
I'm lost in your calculations for xe1....
 
Well the 16-55 f2.8 is due out soon so it may be worth waiting for that? I just bought the 55-200 and was going to get the 18-55 with double cash back but as I have the 18 and the 35 already I shall wait.
Decisions decisions ;)
 
OK so thinking about it, the other choice I have is a fuji refurb xe2 with 18-55 for the same price as the xpro1 with 2 primes. Any thoughts on that. How much difference is there in the focusing? And I'm guessing the ovf won't be brill for the 60mm lens anyway....
 
The OVF on X-pro1 zooms to 60mm field of view when you put the 60mm lens on. It's quite neat.

Is it possible to get X-E2 and 55-200 into your budget? That way you'd have both wide and portrait covered.
 
This is a helpful comment so please do not flame me with issues relating to tax, duty etc.. but a couple of days ago I took delivery of an XE-2 plus 18-55 from Dig Rev. No fuss, no hassle, the right price at around £800 delivered.

Fabulous combination for not a huge amount of money.
 
Ooh. That's sounds tempting. Digital rev handle any issues regarding duty don't they? So no extra money that isn't expected?.....

The above is my personal understanding of the situation. However, DigRev have their own thread within the "Shopping" section here on TP and I am sure they can give you the official line if you pose the questions there.
 
Hmm. Tempting. Still unsure of how much better the focus is on the xe2. Is it night and day or just slightly. Also regarding the ovf on the xp1 I know it brings a frame up but I'm assuming it will be quite small in the window designed for the 35mm

Arrrrgggghhh this is such a hard choice. I would prefer the primes in a perfect world but can only afford them on the xpro1 which I think I would prefer but the 60mm isn't going to be great on the ovf from that picture. And the evf is better on the xe2. Hmmmpf
 
Another thing to consider is size, the XP1 handles better with the larger lenses (14, 23, 56, 60, 55-200 and the other upcoming fast zooms), but perhaps you prefer a smaller body in which case the XE2 is better. If you shoot JPG (Xe2 & X100s) a lot of people are complaining that at higher ISOs the skintones look unnatural, plastic like.
 
:confused: I think probably the xpro1 with primes is going to better suit me as a combo with my x100s. Wish I had somewhere to go and play with them but there isn't anywhere nearby
