Has anybody got any opinions or experience Manfrotto 410 junior or Manfrotto 460MG magnesium head. Is there much difference between their operational capability? Does the extra cost and weight of the 410 over the 460 make it a worthwhile proposition? Also has anyone used a large lens like a sigma 150-500 on any of them. Many thanks Chris

Those two heads could not be more different really, and neither is anything like ideal for a 150-500. Need a gimbal for that, and either a ball-head or 3-way for general work.

410 is a geared head, weighs a ton. Great at what it does, albeit slowly, but you'd not want to lug it far. 460 is very light for a 3-way, though not as good operationally as the 804, which is the best compromise for a 3-way head IMHO. Loads of good ball heads about.

Thanks Richard, I was curious if they would be ok for the sigma 150-500 but I would mainly be using it with sigma 10-20.

I've got the 410! Swear by it! It's fantastic and probably best equipment I've bought! It's on a manfrotto 055 pro legs and in a man bag! Wouldn't be without it

And I hate ball heads and it's not slower once used to it
