Which host for a blog

I'm toying with the idea of setting up a blog style website for separate photo project I'll be starting in the new year. I'd like to use Wordpress as there're some pretty cool themes available.

I'm looking for some advice on which host would be good to use, as some seem to integrate better with Wordpress better than others.

I know I can Google and find hosts, but would just like to hear any if anyone has any personal experience. Thanks :)

£14.99 per year :)
Fab customer service.

Depends exactly what you want. You can do it for free with no hassle by using wordpress.com. They host it for free, do all the software maintenance, give you 3gb of storage space, pretty much the works. The downsides are that your domain name contains wordpress.com and you can't install plugins (you can do themes).

For a slight cost upgrade you can use your own domain name, not sure how much it costs, but all the above still apply.

The third option would be to get hosting somewhere. I run two blogs, the photoblog is hosted at wordpress.com, there is a link to it in my signature.

I also self host one with fasthostingdirect.com. I paied £20 for 2 years hosting with a .com domain, unlimited storage and bandwidth. They have been first class, can't fault them.

The downside to a cheap host like fasthostingdirect is that you end up on a virtual server so you don't actually get a unique ip address. For my own purposes this isn't a problem but if it would be for you you need to look at more expensive options.

Wordpress is a great platform, you can't really go wrong with it. Perhaps consider setting up a free blog with wordpress.com just to try out the software, then once you know what your requirements are self-host.

Thanks folks. It does need to have its own domain name, so the free Wordpress or Blogspot would not do. I didn't realise Wordpress did an upgraded account, I'll look into that, thanks.

I've used One and One for ages, but to integrate a Wordpress blog, with an independents theme, means loadsa backend stuff that I don't really want to get into.

If t is purely for Wordpress I'd go with Wordpress.com, with the Blogspot blog you can have a custom domain name FOC.

Another vote for tsohost here, great customer service and thier cpanel software let's you do a one click wordpress installation.

I had a look earlier after that suggestion from Chouglez, but couldn't see anything about Worpress, but if the above quote is correct, then that's exactly what I want.
