Which is better standard lens from Sony nex: 18-55 or 16-50
 
Both have their quirks and flaws. I had 2 18-55mms and both were the softest lenses i've ever used. The 16-50mm appears to need in-camera correction or at least RAW editing to fix it's vignetting and distortion, that could annoy some people (with older NEXs) or mean nothing to you. I'd take the 16-50mm simply for it's size.
 
The 16-50 would be my choice as well.

I had a go at it few weeks ago and loved its size/weight on the NEX6. The power zoom can be very handy for video and I prefer the 16mm focal length over the 18mm

the power zoom of the 16-50 should be better for video than manual zoom on the 18-55.
Camerapricebuster suggests best new standalone price as £263 & £129.
Of course they are less as part of a body+kit.
 
I had an 18-55 on a nex 7, while it wasn't the best lens it was at least reasonable when closed down a couple of stops from wide open. I tried a 16-50 and couldn't get on with the power zoom for stills photography and the IQ was no better than the 18-55.
 
The 16-50 power zoom can be adjusted manually can it not?
 
Ordered a nex5r with 16-50 :)

Looking forward to playing around with it
180 degree flip LCD for self portraits of family outings will be cool
Hopefully get lots of snaps of the kids :)
