Which kit?

Hi guys

I am planning on taking mainly indoor sports shots. (and a few outdoor sports shots)

My research has led me to this combo:

Canon 60D with a Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II lens.

(this fits into my my budget of around £2200)

Or would it be prudent to buy a more expensive body and a cheaper lens.

I would also consider a Nikon - maybe a D7000 with a cheaper lens than the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

On the face of it seems ok although I don't follow your logic of D7000 with cheaper lens- why would you not buy the 70-200 f2.8 VRII if you were going to buy the equivalent Canon?

More info on what sports and what you want to achieve would help people give more relevant advice? e.g 70-200 f2.8 is fine for football when coupled with a 400mm f2.8 on another body but too short on it's own. Then again, it depends on time of day, real stadium or park sideline etc etc.

Expensive body and cheap lens is not a good combo- it doesn't stop people but it's pretty pointless.
Cheap body and expensive lens or expensive body and lens are the way forward

I meant, if I buy a more expensive body (maybe 7D), I would not be able to afford the CANON EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM lens.

Im trying to find the best balance between camera and lens.

I have been told - its all about the glass.

I'm going to be photographing in-line hockey (indoor), so i will be petty close.
