Yes
planning to sell my D40 while it's mint with low shutter count ...<800..:D..probably include the 18-55 GII kit lens to get a good price

looking for a D200 body .... or D90 body if I can afford the extra £200 - doubtful

I have 55-200*VR* which is adequate for my needs - so ---
1) buy replacement 18-55 but *VR* - cracking reports or -
2) doing mostly landscapes - should I just get a prime say 28mm or 24mm or ??

dont need a "fast lens"... just sold my 35mm 1.8 AF-S ..:(

been reading here through the posts about upgrading...if tripod then surely i can use older AF or AF-D lens which should be cheaper ?

thanks ... prefer Nikon only

I would of thought even wider than 28mm for landscapes. The Nikon 10-24mm would be a good range, costly though.

I'd say you want something a lot wider for landscapes, 18mm should be your minimum as you may probably want a wider field of landscape & sky.

Good wideangle primes are expensive (Leica 19mm, Zeiss 18mm). 24mm is wideangle on full frame, on DX this will not likely suit your needs. It would be more reasonable to go for a good UWA zoom, and Tokina make 2. There is nothing better in Nikon world, unless you must pay 3x more. You can always have 18-55 VR in your bag for what it costs and does, unlike the Canon equivalent.

Not a prime or Nikon I know but for your cropped sensor I would recommend the Tokina 11-16mm (£480). A super lens and slightly sharper than the popular Sigma 10-20. It depends on your budget really.

you are correct - looking at my landscapes they are all about 18mm on the 18-55 kit lens

bit too rich for me ............thanks for the idea

You might like to think about the Tamron 18-50 F2.8 VC, sharp lens and cheaper than the Nikon 18-55.

help - cannot find the Tamron priced anywhere

the Nikon 18-55 *VR* is from Camera World at £99.99
