Which lens for a Canon eos 60d?

I'm just about to upgrade to a 60d but am torn between these two lenses:-
Canon ef-s 18 - 135 is
And
Tamron ad 18 - 200 Xr di ii

Both have a max aperture of 3.5 at the short end and both seem to have generally good reviews too on the net.

I will have the lens on the 60d a lot of the time as a goto lens for all purpose use rather than a specific catagory of photography.

So, can anyone who actually uses them on a more daily basis share their thoughts please.

I've not used either, but the 18-135 gets a good review from people on here. I personally would opt for the Canon lens if I was after this focal range ...

If you can stretch go for the 18-135mm IS STM version its a lot better, very sharp images and fast silent focusing I use it and have compared it directly with my mates 15-85mm and cannot see any difference on my 21 inch monitor without blowing up

Thanks guys. Did have a look through the dedicated 60d owners section and the 18-135 does seem to be a good lens.
Will the fact that it has a bigger front end ( 67mm over tamrons 62mm ) make much difference to quality of image with more light being able to enter the lens?

The 18-135 IS is a decent lens on any crop body, I occasionally use it on my 7D while it's usually on the wife's 650D. The STM version is a fairly big step up in quality though, but it does come at quite a hefty price increase.

The new Sigma 18-200 OS is getting some very good reviews as well and may be worth looking into the price of it before committing to anything.
