Which lens for snapping my 9mth old son?

Hi guys,
im looking for a lens which would suit snapping my 9 month old son, never sits still and always zooming around the floor. budget around the £200 mark. ive only got a 70-300 vr for my D300.

any thoughts please guys!
 
My first thought is a fast prime like a 35mm f1.8 or a 50mm.

Both well within your budget. Not sure you'll get fast zoom for that price.

You could consider using the 70-300 with a bounced flash maybe.
 
Possibly the 35 over the 50 if most of the time you will be using it indoors. In tighter spaces the 50mm on a crop sensor might seem a bit too long.
 
thanks simon, would prefer the 35mm for using on landscapes as well, off to have a look through the for sale.
 
35mm seems to be the prefered choice.

The Nikon 35mm f/1.8 has a cashback offer through Nikon. You can get the lens for £144 from Jessops or Amazon then claim £20 cashback from Nikon.

With that offer, it's not worth trying to find a 2nd hand deal IMO.

I have the 35mm 1.8 on my D5100 and its amazing. Only lens you really need for indoor shots.
 
i will put up some pics when it arrives! i had a d200 and a 17-85mm but sold them both a while back. invested now in a d300 so bit of a learning curve coming up.

If you didn't buy direct from amazon but one of there sellers you may not be able to get the cashback. As you still have still £50 left of your budget i recommend a yongnuo yn-465 flashgun.
