Which lens is better? Sigma 70-300mm or Nikon 50-200mm?

Can anyone on here tell me what are the main differences between these 2 lenses which (in your opinion) is the better lens and what does some of the jargon mean? I'm buying a new lens (for birds etc) for my Nikon D3100 14MP DSLR Its a lot of reading but i really need help in deciding which lens to buy

If you are shooting birds then you need as much magnification as you can afford. The Nikon lens dais it's manual focus only and only 200mm so not really viable. The other one is better.
 
I bought one of those sigma's for £62 off eBay last year. It was a great lens, much sharper than a tamron 70-300 that I had previously.

I ended up selling it though to fund a 70-200 f2.8 sigma (which is awesome!)

Just be careful as you need a lens with an autofocus motor for your D3100
