which lens should i buy

as my sigma 70-300 APO DG broke at the weekend i have a choice to replace it with the same lens or do i replace it with the canon 55-250 is or the Tamron 70-300mm DI LD Macro ...and i'm on a budget of £250

don't bother with the tamron, it's just not very good at all. I can't comment on the canon personally, but a lot of people say it is a great lens, but having the same sigma lens myself, I would replace it with a new one as it's a great piece of kit.

+1 it's a piece of crap- even for under £200


I'd say maybe pipe for the canon 70-300 IS, or the tamron 70-300 VC, IS makes a big difference on such a slow lens

The Tamron SP 70-300 has some good reviews and it's not that expensive.

any used Canon 70-300 that i have seen are £349 plus for £250 i can get the 55-250 IS II

You can ge them new for £340 !

The last one on here sold for £280 inc RMSD

just bought the canon 55-250 IS lens for £158.97 from Tesco

Would save a bit more and get the Sigma 70-300mm OS
