I am getting a very cheap setup for myself which includes a Nikon D3000, however not sure what lens to go or fit with it but narrowed it down to these:

Sigma 55-200mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM
Nikon 55-200mm F3.5-5.6 AFS DX G, however i think the nikon should say F4-5.6 as cant find a F3.5-5.6
Nikon 18-105mm F3.5-4.5 G AFS ED DX VR
Nikon 55-200mm F4-5.6 AFS DX G VR

Any suggestions?

It really depends what you shoot, if you want one for all the 18-105 is what it would start of with.

If you get the 55-200 ones you will need another lens to cover 18-55.

The kit lens 18-105 is a good all round starter lens! But as said...... depends what your shooting

I would also suggest taking a look at the 18-70 if the 18-105 is on your list. It's a really nice little lens and usefully cheaper than the 18-105.

I had a Nikon 18-200mm vr (first version) on my D7000, terrific all-round dx lens. I think they are about £250 new now but there are plenty of good secondhand available from about £150.

Not sure you can get them new now and the V2 version is about £350 for a grey import (MPB have good second hand ones from £220).

Anyway, on the D3000 you might find such a lens messes up the balance a bit but it is a good point that you will almost certainly want something that goes to 18mm so if you are also set on having a bit of telephoto ability then you might have to put up with a slight imbalance in a one lens solution.

So, off the list the 18-105 is a nice lens for the money, pretty sharp, VR works pretty well and 105mm is usefully long for a general walk around. The 18-200 would be a nice option if in budget.
