Which lens to compliment

I have a 7D and use a 70-200 f2.8 II (which is awesome). I've never had much luck in finding a lens to compliment. I have a 15-85 which is ok but it's not fast enough - recommendations? I've tried a 24-105 and wasn't blown away by it.

I wasn't blown away by my 24-105 either.
I got the older 28-70L and its a marked improvement, I can only imagine the newer 24-70 is better again (I just couldn't afford it!)

My next lens down from the above is a 35mm f2 prime.. its the only thing that has the perfect quality...and its (relatively) not too expensive either.

I ahve 24mm and 50mm primes if required.. but anything less than the 70-200 and the 35mm is all i usually need

I've read that the 17-55 2.8 is an awesome lens but the comparisons on thedigitalpicture.com don't match up. ?

That particular review on TheDigitalPicture is a rogue test. As explained on there. My guess is it's related to shooting a flat target at close distance that often throws up errors with shorter focal langths.

17-55 2.8 was made for just the job you're asking, and it's excellent.
