which lenses for Canon 5d and weddings

I have sold off most of my wildlife lenses to fund a 5D MKII and a couple of lenses. I am left with my 24-105 f4 and my 100mm f2.8 macro. I am hoping to do portraits and weddings. Any thoughts on lenses for weddings ?
I have a pro wedding photographer that has agreed to let me go along with him as a 2nd photographer to learn about weddings. Unfortunately he is away for the next 2 wks and the first wedding is in 3 wks. So I would like to get at least 1 lens soon to become familiar with. I have been considering the canon 16-35 and the 70-200 both f2.8 and both very expensive. Any thoughts very much appreciated.

I highly rate the 24-70L. The 24-105L is good, but f4 isn't f2.8 when you need it.

beginning to realise f4 wont be good enough. Will have a look for threads in the business section and id maybe more appropriate an admin can move the thread ??
Any thoughts on a first choice lens as I can only afford 1 now and the 2nd in a month or so

Sigma 24-70mm HSM is good and cheaper than the Canon.
Also the Sigma 70-200mm HSM II is a good lens

I probably would look at prime with good aperture. 50mm f1.4, 85 f1.8? Your 24-105f4 will cover enough as wide but I would go and have a look at venue if that's possible. You then would see what you need exactly on the day, make some test shots, be "like" pro

Thanks Wyshniukas but the venue will change as he is planning to take me on 3 weddings initially. So oping to gradually build a selection of lenses to cover pretty much everything before going solo.
