Which Macro for D7000?

I can afford up to a max of £250, I believe this probably limits me to three lenses:

  • 40mm Nikon Micro
  • 90mm Tamron
  • 105mm Sigma (second hand)

What would people's views be between these lenses? I'm thinking 40mm is probably a bit short for working at 1:1, as you'd have to get stupidly close to the subject?
 
I can't imagine using a 40mm macro. I'd say it is too short. The second hand Sigma might be good if you get it for the right price. Make sure you inspect and test it throughly, though.
 
I have friends that use the Tamron and absolutely love it. I dont use any of these so cant give you first hand experience. I realise now that my response is probably pointless :oops: :$
 
A friend has the Tamron & he gets some really good results (also on D7000)
 
I've used the tammy 90 on a D7000 and it is excellent. tbh most if not all macro lenses will be good. Another to throw into the mix is the Tokina 100mm f2.8, you may get one of these in budget but they don't come up often. New they are about £350 ish.
 
I use the Tokina - superb. But, as Paul says, probably all macro lenses are.

I must have got lucky. Picked mine up off e-bay for £100.
 
Sigma 150mm F2.8 (non OS) = £250-350
Nikon AF-60mm Micro F2.8 = £150 ish
 
& the Nikon will AF just fine on the D7000 - it was my first lens on mine.
 
Thanks for the comments all, Tamron 90mm F2.8 arrives tomorrow :)
