Which micro 4/3 camera!?!?!

I have been shooting now for while and I have taught myself how to get to grips with a dslr and I think recently If like to think I'm now quite capable in using one. I enjoy my K5ii and love the quality I can achieve from it but I find that a good a lot of places where I just don't need (or want to be honest) to be carrying my lump of a camera around. I have a point and shoot too but I ain't too thrilled with results from that so recently I have been looking into the micro 4/3 market.

I am on a limited budget as Christmas is around the corner but feel like I need to get one before Christmas as it will get used.

Looking into lens I definitely want the 20mm 1.7 panasonic, I will later buy the olympus 45mm 1.8.

The issue is the body. For under £130 I can either get a GF2, E-P2 or E-Pl3, the latter of which I know makes most sense but I just don't like the look...

What's your thoughts, am I missing any other cameras?
 
I wouldnt go for any of those, Id stretch a little further and get a GX1, by far the best value M43 at the moment.
 
I was in the same boat.
I couldn't afford the sony options and like lumix anyway, didn't want or couldn't afford the canon, so went for a gx1.
nice kit, PZ lens and the 1.7 pancake are a nice combination.
 
Decide whether you want an EVF before making your decision. I bought a GX1 and found using the rear screen only a PITA to use. Consequently, I went with a second hand G series and now have a GH3 as my main camera.

Yup. I loved my GF1 until I decided that back screen shooting just wasn't for me and changed it for a G1.

Same here.

Still regret selling my M43 kit.

I keep looking at the G series cameras 2ndhand as they are great bargains IMHO.
 
I had an E-PL3 backscreen shooting is a pain but you can buy a clip on evf. Decent image quality nice and compact and of course built in IS means you can use it on your legacy lenses :thumbs: Actually I liked it so much I bought a OMD-EM5 :)

I haven't tried either of the Olympus cameras so cannot comment on them but I would not go for the GF2, the GF1 is a much nicer camera to use and will cost you a good deal less. As others have said work out if you can live with just using the screen (personally I am happy enough to do this) and then either go for a GF/GX or G series accordingly.
 
Is the gf1 better than the gf2 then? Is it not an upgrade? The difference in price between the 2 is only £20, GF1 @ £100 and GF2 at £120. The GX1 is £180 for an 'ok' used one. With Christmas round the corner I just don't think I can stretch, what with the lens @ £180-£200.
E-pl3 @ £140...

I think a G2 or G3 would be too large, I want to go smaller than my dslr.
 
+1 GX1, superb bit of kit.
 
Of that list I've only used the GF2. It's fine as a second camera for snapshots etc but as a serious tool it's a bit hopeless. Horrible control interface, hardly any physical buttons. Everything I've read since, suggests the GF1 is a fair bit better for serious shooters but as others have said, I'd be tempted to go for something with a viewfinder if you can, it'll transform the usability of the camera.
 
The GF2 was a bit of a disappointment after the GF1 and wasn't really an upgrade at all - more of an attempt to appeal to a market segment of people upgrading from compacts. The GX1 is far more like a "spiritual successor" to the GF1, and is a definite upgrade from it with the 16Mpixel sensor rather than 12 on the GF1.
 
I've been looking at a GF1 and 20 1.7 deal for around £300. I don't mind using the LCD as i do this with my point and shoot and its ok, Although I do enjoy a viewfinder very much so. I suppose though this could just be an extra at a later date....
