I have an iMac and a Macbook, what is the best way to go for calibration (mainly on the iMac) ? Spyder 3 Elite or Huey Pro ? Anything else at a half sensible price that's recommended ?

Thanks

I just got a Spyder Pro for Christmas, installed easy, works fine, a noticeable difference paid £99, but can be got a little cheaper. :)

I use the EyeOne which works fine for colour but still found prints came out a l;ittle dark. Guy from colour confidence told me this was normal & to find Screen Shade on the net which allows you to do fine tuning of the brightness on the Mac to adjust to match prints. Problem solved

Eye One Display.
Better than the Hue Pro thing as you can set a luminance level etc. which addresses the lightness/darkness of prints issue.

A screen shade makes sense but for me, I have a blackout blind and work in the dark!
My choice ! and I calibrate to that!

Have had no issues since swapping to this method.

Eye one display is what I use and the ability to set screen brightness i a real must if you want good screen to print match. Not found the need to use any other software to get the screen brightness down to 130 cd/m2. Brightness gain set to 50% System Preferences does the job on both the iMac and MBP

Also the display of the LUT curves is a useful tool

Would also give a  to Colour Confidence. Nice people to do business with and they know their stuff

I use a Spyder Elite.

Huey Pro, got two of these, the first one i had gave what appeared to be a very warm cast to my screen. Apparently there was a problem with the early version of them, and i had it replaced by Pantone. After getting a Spyder i decided there wasn't actually too much of a problem with it, so the new one is still boxed and unused. The problem is with the Huey is you can't set the luminance, you'll need to do this as the iMac and MacBook screens are way too bright.

I've got a Spyder 3, but realy think I should have gone with the EyeOne.

The main thing I miss the the ability to measure the luminance value and I find the software pretty clunky.

I'll have to look to see if I can upgrade, as that wasn't offered when I got mine (pretty much as soon as they came out :bang: )
