Which Nikon lens??? HELP

I want a lens with a 2.8 aperature.
I have been looking at the Nikon 24-70 2.8 but this is very expensive.
I also looked at the Sigma 17-70 2.8 but apparently this doesn't have the 2.8 throughout.
A friend also suggested the Tamron 17-50 2.8.
Does anyone use any of these lens and which do they find the best. The only thing that puts me off buying the 17-50 is I have less of a zoom!

I would appreciate any comments!

Firstly, i think you've posted in the wrong section, this should be in 'talk equipment' - hopefully a mod will come along and move it for you

Secondly, its probably worth stating your budget and what sort of photography you're into....

There is also a Sigma 17-50 i believe....IF you do go for the tamron, go for the NON-VC version, they're supposed to be better...

I've posted in the other forum you suggested also!
My budget was £1000 or therabouts last week until I booked a holiday so at the minute its about £500 but I should make the budget back up within the next month or two!
