Hello Everyone :)

Looking to buy a cheap printer to print the odd text document / picture. Not after anything fancy and as such am just looking at entry range printers. I am stuck between 3 (although if anyone can recommend anything better please say) ....

These are:

1) Canon Pixma MP495 (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9284872.htm)

2) Epson SX235W (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/9040425.htm)

3) Advent Touch Wireless (http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/advent-touch-wireless-all-in-one-inkjet-printer-17613177-pdt.html)

All of the 3 mentioned are Wifi. Based on perhaps personal experience which would you recommend and why (based on quality, print cartridge cost etc)

Many Thanks for your help in advance.

Cheers, Rob

inks for all of them will be expensive, all 3 probably give the same quality, would probably go for the canon out of those 3

I had (have) a Canon MP495. It is dumped in my loft as I could not get an acceptable colour out of it, no matter how hard I tried and trust me I tried hard.

Buy a referb of Ebay, maybe get a better printer for a low price, the old adage comes in "You only get what you pay for" as far as a cheap new printer. As stated above it's not the printer that costs the money it's the branded inks so again go 3rd party if quality is not at the top of the list.
And just in-case you wonder why I say Ebay "I bought a Epson photo 1400 for under £100 two years ago and it's still going strong"

My wife has the Epson SX235W and it works pretty well. She buys el-cheapo cartridges from 3000rpm.com (same place I buy mine) and the colour match to the Epson originals is pretty damed good.

I think you should be able to find it for less than the Argos price - she paid under £30 in Tesco.

I've had an Epson printer in past and didn't really get on with it, changed a couple of years ago to a Canon Pixma printer and the difference for me was significant, much better print outs and much more stable. Showed FIL difference and he was sold and swapped his printer a weeks or 2 after...

I'd be going for the Canon printer from your choice...

The Canon ebay shop has several printers on at the moment, all appear to be higher spec than the listed item and all are cheaper.

I use 3rd party inks in my Canon and have so far had no issues, in the past I had Epson printers that would only ever behave if I stuck to Epson ink.

I don't print photo's with it but I do print DVDs and CDs and the quality is great.
