which of these filters for my 18-55mm lens

Im new to buying filters so im after a bit of advice .I was not going to bother with a filter but in my clumsiness (spelling) i have managed to get my finger prints on the lens already .The lens is a nikon 18-55m kit lens .The 2 options i have found are below ,are these any good and whats the difference and would the more expensive be better quality ....thanks in advance :

I'd go with the latter if I was forced to put one on, however your lens is worth about £50, is it really worth spending £15 on a filter that at best will reduce contrast in some conditions, at worse will degrade IQ considerably... Fingerprints on the filter will cause just as many problems as fingerprints on the lens glass itself so its not going to make much difference...

Some people swear by filters, some people think "protection filters" are a waste of money (I've had two broken lenses so far, neither would have been protected if I'd stuck a bit of glass on the front...). One positive is you don't need to worry about a lens cap as you can just use the filter as a sacrificial bit in your bag... IMO unless you are shooting in wet conditions (by/on heavy seas) or in areas where you'll regularly get bits of rock thrown at you (rally, windy beaches) there is no need for one. Just get yourself a decent circular polariser instead and use that as protection, unscrewing it when not needed (basically when your indoors).
