Beginner Which On-line Course is best??

Good morning all, i am new to this forum so please be gentle with me!! My wife is very much into photography and would like to looking into taking an on-line course. There are a few available that we have been looking into, but i would like some advice before signing up. I wonder is anyone has experienced an on-line course before??
I understand a lot of people of or the opinion that you can learn yourself ect... but this is to give my wife something to focus on away from her day to day work. A course designed to carry on her interest and hopefully take her to the next level.

Any help / opinions would be gratefully received.

What level does your wife aspire to? To take better pics or go professional, for example. Or any pariticular genre?

I would then look for a course which was run by a well established institution who can provide genuine student testimonials that confirm that the aforesaid course has delivered the goods
