Which one of these puppies should I get first
Note: to use now on a D7k but will upgrade the D7K to a D800 or whatever they call it when it comes out;
Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 AFS
Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 AFS
Nikon 70-200mm VR II
Note: I am going on a 5 day Photo shoot in the Philippines soon that will involve doing a bunch of street and some landscape Photography and I want one of the above to take with me

My present set up is D7k.....18/200mm.......50mm 1.4G
 
Personally, I'm not sure I'd take any of those lenses traveling, they're all massive. I'd probably just take what you've already got.

That said, if I were to get one of those lenses it would be the 14-24 as I love wide angle but of course it depends on what sort of shooting you to do.
 
Got to agree with Nawty. You need all three for a complete set of focal lengths and you'll spend all your time changing lenses instead of enjoying your holiday. You might consider a 16-85mm which will give a bit more at the wide end than your 18-200mm and probably better results. And perhaps a Sigma 50-150mm f2.8 for something a bit longer - DX lens so much smaller and lighter than a 70-210mm f2.8.

I'd probably just rent a 17-55 for a week then when I had the D800 get the 24-70 first.
 
Easy answer!! 24-70.

I have this and the 70-200 and both are excellent lenses although the 70-200 is not used as much. The 24-70 is a perfect walkabout lens on my d300. Yes it is bigger than other lenses but is sharp and gives great iq. Get one, u won't regret it.

Get a used 17-55mm now as it is a brilliant lens and perfect on the D7k. When you upgrade the body, sell it for what you paid and get a 24-70mm.

Last time I looked, there was one in the classifieds here.

Depends on what you shoot. I had the 17-55 (think the 24-70 is far better) and when I looked I rarely shot below 23mm and often needed more than 55mm. 24-70 is perfect for me on DX, the odd time I could do with wider is offset by the times I need to be at 70mm.
 
The 18-200 is not exactly the best IQ lens out there - you will notice a big difference with some 2.8 glass.
 
I have a 24-70 f2.8 and 80-200 f2.8. You really need both to cover the main range so just pick whichever is going to be most use first.
 
As a walkabout/travel lens the 18-200mm can't be beat. It may not be the fastest or best quality, but the best lens I have is the one I take with me.

Back when I used to have a few 2.8's, they used to get very heavy pretty quickly. So sometimes I'd say sod it I can't be bothered to lug that lot around today.
 
Update;
I ended up getting the 24/70 f2.8 and love it
I will pick up a new 70/200mm f2.8 v11 on Tuesday along with a new D3s body, this photography stuff has got me hook line and sinker

An excellent choice. The 24-70 is a great lens as well but the 70-200 is awesome- so versatile and just a joy to use. Enjoy:)
