which one to choose mac

One additional point I thought of overnight. This model of iMac uses a CRT display.

Um, no it doesn't. the G3 iMac had a CRT, but the G4 and G5 were both equipped with LCD screens. The G4 iMac was the famous "angle poise" model

The G5 shares the same basic design as the current model, with some fairly major differences - plastic instead of aluminium and no glass in front of the display.

There was a CRT based Mac available around the same time - the eMac. This was a G4 based machine aimed at the education market (hence the e instead of i in the name).
