Have you tried them out in the camera shop, at the end of the day, its down to you as to which one you feel comfortable holding. All entry level camera's.

Have you done your research on which system offers the lens(es) you would want to use and price you would be will to pay, as you buying into a system not just a camera.

Panasonic is quite different from the other two as it has smaller 4/3 sensor, no optical viewfinder but is lighter and smaller. You need to handle them to decide.

what he said

Id stay away from the lower end Nikons which lack a focus motor, could be an issue when you decide to buy another lens. The af-s ( i think thats it ?) lenses are more expensive.

Thankyou for your replies :)

I had a go with the Nikon yesterday, and found it ok. I didn't like the fact that it didn't have live view.
I think I am leaning towards the Canon...am I right in thinking lenses are a fraction cheaper for the canon? Or more readily available?

I am gonna have one chance of buying this, no chance of upgrading in the future unless I win the lotto...so I wanna get it right!

I think its because I am so used to using the LCD screens to compose my pictures...lame excuse I know!!!

Is it better to use the viewfinder?? Sorry if this seems a really thick question....

When live view first came to DSLR's many traditionalists scoffed but many now find it useful for confirming focus and use it for everything from macro to landscape.

To be honest I have found myself using live-view allot less than I first thought I would, DSLR Viewfinders, even on low end cameras are absolutely brilliant, and look better than any LCD, once you get used to holding the camera to your eye rather than infront of you, you wont want to use the LCD!.
But live view does have its uses, its just not something I use every day.

While the vast majority of my shots are through the viewfinder and Live View doesnt get used very much, its something im very happy to have.
Very useful with macro, astrophotography, and can make those "interesting" angle shots far easier.
Its not something you think about much in general day to day use-But you love it when it comes in handy

I pretty much had the same decision to make and I plumped for the G1. The camera just felt right for me when I held it and I find it easy to operate. The only draw back is the lack of lens choices, but I'm sure that will change in the future.
