Im looking at buying a point and shoot for my upcoming holiday to Turkey. As I dont want to lug my D200 and lenses around. Im not looking for the best ever, but want something that will do a good job of taking general holiday snaps, and have decent picture quality. I have looked at the Fuji Finepix J50, but no others. Any other options?
Thanks

where abouts in Turkey? you may regret taking a P & S and be better lugging (maybe with one or two lens). I'd of thought you'd be better saving on the P & S and buying a CPL and a grad filter instead

Going to the Turquiose coast, just outside of Icmelar. Is it a very photogenic place? If so I will take my slr, tripod and filters, but if not then a p+s will do.

Picked up a Panasonic tz4 at duty free dixons for £139 last week. Fantastic photos and a 10x zoom. Great holiday camera at a decent price.;)

Happy dance

If you don't want to stretch to a Leica, have a look at it's brother, the Panasonic Lumix.

Shoots wide, down to f2.0, brill at macro, and has a hotshoe for flash as well as a little built in one.

And sexy as hell :)

What do you want out of your P&S?, wide angle ability 25 / 28mm? - xxxmm long zoom?, mega pixels?, and how much?, the price £100 - 300? Fuji Finepix J50 about £75. What about the panasonic TZ6 or TZ7 or Canon Digital IXUS 980 IS, depends what you want to spend, or just take your DSLR and 1 or 2 decents lenses.

you'll regret taking a P & S there - the scenery is fantastic and if you get bored locally theres alot within a couple of hours. Take a grad and a CPL, the sunrise and sets are great. The only thing is it can get a little hazy along there

What Grad would you reccomend? As im in the market for a couple of filters, I already have the CPL. I take it you have been before? Any pictures to show?
I will need a point and shoot for the mrs to use whilst we are there, as well as when we are at home, so something semi decent under £100 if its do-able.

Yep - I'd take a three stop ND grad as well.

Couple of sunrises/sets from that area for you.

I picked up a Panasonic (oooh can't remember the model number:bang:) compact for my daughter when she goes on a school trip to France - it has a Leica lens and a wide angle 30mm (& Telephoto option). Initial results from a point and shoot are very good and no regrets buying it.
