Which Printer ( stand alone)

Hey peeps, im in the process of buying a printer for my grandfather, he wants something that does'nt need a computer to use it, just one where he can attach his camera via a usb lead and print away ( pict bridge i think), also would like one that prints, copies and scans and must be something capable of printing at a4 size and doing a good print, i myself have the canon ip4500 and carnt knock it for up to a4...... Also anybody know of a good negative/slide scanner, he wants one also.........

Any idea's?????????

For what you are asking for I have a HP C6280 which does that very well. Certainly worth looking at.

I've not tried them myself but I've heard good things about the Kodak ESP range which are much cheaper to run than most inkjets but still have a good reputation for excellent print quality.

The ESP 5 sounds like it would be a good option and can be bought for around £90
 
ive read alot of bad reviews about the esp series to be honest, both the printers mentioned above look very good and have some good write up's....
 
epson printers ink cartridges are the cheapest

the compatibles from phoenix are very good

i use them and and epson

so i would recommend an epson just for the ongoing cost of inks
 
I just bought an Epson SX515W (wireless), print, scan, copy, we're well pleased with it, looking at replacing the ink carts with compatables when necessary, this is one fast printer, wireless too, all for £90. :)

Hi Kevin

Just bought an SX515W too - very good so far. Have you tried any compatibles yet and if so, where did you get them? There's loads on the web with prices ranging from ridiculously low to pretty high so I'm just not sure which ones to go for? :thinking:
 
Might i suggest an epson printer and a CISS (Continuous ink supply system)
While initial setup cost may be fairly high, the ink refills are VERY cheap. You get a set of 250ml bottles for half the price of a set of epson inks.

I got mine from http://www.impact-computers.co.uk Very good prices and the ink is IMHO better that Epson ink.

Edit: My printer is an Epson Stylus Photo R300
