Starting to do some film and having a look at scanners. Currently looking at the Epson Perfection v550 and the Canon CanoScan 9000F and was wondering if anybody uses either of these and what they think of them, or if there is something else I should be looking at in the same price range. I'm currently using a Canon colour printer so integration might be a relevant consideration.
Although I have a back catalog of 35mm negs, it is medium format I am currently using, and I do want the capability to scan prints as well.
At first I thought the Epson was the pick but on looking closely at the specs, it's not quite clear but appears that it might scan negatives at 4,800dpi whereas the Canon scans at 9,600dpi. Is this correct or am I reading it wrong? (Thinking ahead, probably net every neg will be scanned at max res but there will no doubt be plenty of occasions when max res will be called upon).
