Hi all,

Im going to a rally on Saturday which is in the forest so it will be dark and no doubt raining!! just not sure which setting to put my camera on!! has anyone any advice?

You dont want to freeze it too much, you will still want movemnent in the wheels, if you are panning as they come past you then the ideal would probably be about 60th second but you panning will need to be good, if the car is coming towards or away from you then you will probably get away with a higher shutter speed

On a 1000d I'd agree with Minimad, try around 6oth on Tv, pan to keep car in same position in frame, shoot from side with cars passing 25-35 ft away and you may get great results with the little 50mm f1.8 if you can grab one, using this near wide open will help you keep your iso down and therefore quality up in what may be fairly dark conditions. The classic consumer zoom running at around f5.6 lets in less than an eighth of light!
