Yes
hi all, after another sony but not sure what to get.
i`v picked 3 i like which are,
A290,A390 and the A450 but not sure what to get.
i`v found a new A350 which i already have and love but its the same price as the 450 and dont know if the new one`s are a better bet.
any help would be great, thanks chris.

I would go for the best one you can afford Chris. Is the Sony A550 in your price range?
At the end of the day you only need a camera which will make the Carp look even larger than they really are;):D

well from what iv found the A390 is the new A350,and seems to be the same apart from the shape.
i do like the look of the A550,from what i can see the FPS is 5/7 and the iso sits up to 12.800 but apart from that not much else different from the 390.
would i realy need to use the iso that high??
theres £80 between them too.
or should i look into the A450?
what to do :bang:

i have had the a390 a couple of months now and it's a great little starter dslr, but that's the problem-it's an entry level camera. if i were upgrading from an a350(which is very similar to the a390) i'd be looking at the a400 series or above if i'm honest.

the a390 is in essence just the newer, shinier version of the camera you already have

Ive got the A450 and cant reccomend it enough.

Good FPS
High ISO is pretty good (miles better than my old A200)

The downside is no liveview but I dont use this anyway

Just to clarify, the a450 DOES have liveview, just a standard implementation as like is seen on most bodies these days. The a500/a550 also have a real autofocus liveview implementation, which the a450 does not have.

manual focus liveview though

iv got it down to the a390 and the a550.
dont know if i should up grade with the future in mind or go with the 390 and stick with what i know at this stage.

Out of the list youve provided id go for the a450 every time. Team it up (like i have :p) with the tamron 17-50mm and your onto a winner. But, that said, im getting an A550 now, the mrs wants to get in photography as well so im fobbing her off with my A450 and buying myself the A550. Ill stick with that then until i can afford a full frame sony or canon. The new processors in the sony range are awesome though, compared my last A200 its like pitching concorde against a red bull flugtag entrant :)

EDIT: since *** are chucking rubbish at the live view for the A450, there is nothing wrong with it, i actually prefer the MF version coz it doesnt drain the kak out of the battery, i simply use the viewfinder all the time then merely press the MF button to check focus and take a shot, its not that hard :) its literally the difference between pressing a button and not pressing a button.
