Background
I currently have a D5000 and the Nikkor 18-105VR, 70-300VR and 35mm lenses. When travelling, I find taking all 3 lenses too heavy and bulky (especially if only taking hand luggage!) so tend to take the 18-105 and 35 and leave the longer zoom at home. Inevitably, I sometimes find the 105 too short and am thinking of getting a superzoom for when travelling light.
I'll probably keep the 18-105 for better IQ on the occasions when I can carry the 18-105 and the 70-300 (I'd like to upgrade the 18-105 to a 16-85 one day), so I don't mind losing some IQ in the superzoom to gain some convenience.
The quandary
Which lens to get? My choices seem to be;
Nikon 18-200 VR
Sigma 18-200 OS
Tamron 18-270 VC
I've seen the question asked on a few forums and most recommend the Nikon - but this usually seems to be based on the brand rather than a direct comparison of the lenses in question. Has anyone had experience of using 2 or more of these lenses?
Also, I understand that the Nikon is faster at its max focal length (5.6 rather than 6.3) than the Tamron but does anyone know what the Tamron is at 200mm?
