which tc? Kenko or sigma?

Hi all,

I sold my sigma 120-300 f2.8 to get the 70-200 due to the weight and the wider short end. (Plus to free up some $$$$!!)

Which TC have people used with this lens?
I'm aiming for the sigma apo dg 1.4 or save £60 and getting the kenko 1.7

I'm guessing the Sigma will work better?
 
When I had the Sigma 100-300mm f4 EX DG APO I used/had both the Kenko & Sigma 1.4x EX DG APO TC... I prefered the Sigma TC as that fitted more snug than the Kenko did... So I would go for the Siggie TC

There are bargains about for the Sigma 1.4 (if you look for them) now youhave over the 100 posts stick a wanted ad in the classifieds if there is none available in the sales thread..

I think technically the sigma would ve better, the kenko tempts me as its cheaper and if I'm correct, gives me an extra 96mm at the wide end( on a dx )?
What is the difference in stop loss between 1.4 and 1.7?

There are a few on ebay but I'll have a gander in the classifieds!
 
I have a Kenko x2 for use with my 70-200. To be honest it leaves the image slightly soft. I've heard/read that the 1.4s are much better, but I haven't used them :)

There is a half stop difference between the 1.4 and 1.7. I would stick to the Sigma with Sigma lenses. I have a 1.7 that I use with a Pentax and also use a Sigma 1.4 with a Sigma 100-300 F4 the 1.4 is better with little difference to the image quality or af performance I would not consider using the 1.7 with it.
 
I use the Kenko 1.4 with my 70-200/D90 and am really pleased with the results. Would recommend the Kenko without hesitation.

Hmm differing opinions as always!
I might have to get both and see which works best I guess!!
