Which tele-convertor

Buy the Nikon, are you really willing to risk a lens of that value, Hanging on with a 3rd party converter !!!!!!. the Nikon is expensive, but at least you know the build quality is there.

IQ wise, the Nikon will be spot on, with the Kenko ?,.......... lot of guys are happy with them , but to get the best out of your lens................GO NIKON!!!!

Got to disagree with you there Xup, the Kenko pro convertors are very good build quality and optically.
I don't see what the risk is anyway TBH

Have a look here. They should both work... Just beware that there are some lens /convertor combinations where the rear element of the lens can touch the front element of the convertor

The disadvantage with the Nikon TCxxE converters is the small tab on the front mounting face, which prevents you fitting non Nikon tellephoto lenses. A possible consideration as you have a Sigma 120-300 in your signature

Whats wrong with your Sigma 1.4x in your signature? Just curious

Does the Sigma 1.4 tc work ok with the Nikon 500 AFS. I had the Kenko Pro with my 300 AFD and it was fine and worked well with that lens. If the Sigma works then i wouldnt mind trying that before spending money but would like another convertor so i can keep the Sigma attached to my Sigma lens.
