Hi all

I'm seriously considering purchasing this lens in the near future to stick on my D300, but looking, I see there are at least 4 versions of it over the last few years. Personally, I'd prefer it to have HSM, but then again image quality would most likely win out in the end. I've had a look on Google as well as this forum, but can't seem to get very far.

Is there a definite answer to this question? Let's see... ;)

Thanks

If you dont need very fast AF, Tamron 70-200 2.8 is the best option in this price range.

This one gets the best reviews on Fred Miranda site

If it's for the D300 I'd recommend the sigma 50-150 version II over the 70-200 range. It's smaller, lighter and compares favourably with regards to images quality too. Oh and it's HSM.

It's DX only though so less use if you're going full frame in the near future.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually Lazlo, I would like this lens to work OK on full frame, so that rules the 50-150mm out.
