Which Wideangle

Been to jessop's tonight checking out some wideangles, asked about the canon 10-22mm and the bloke behind the counter said dont bother and showed me the sigma 12-24mm which he said was a much better lens, build and performance wise, would like your opinion's on these lens's and any others as im stuck in a big rut over choosing which wideangle for my 400d..............:shake:

I got the Sigma 10-20mm EX a couple of months ago and I'm really happy with it. The field of view it packs in is amazing, nice and sharp and it's built like a tank. In fact the weight is the only slight drawback but it's quality kit and that weighs more.

I would have to doubt what he says.

The Canon 10-22 is a cracker of a lens, certainly the best cropped sensor specific lens on a Canon mount. The only advantage IMHO with that Sigma lens is it'll work on both cropped and full frame sensors
