variable. Depends what you want to shoot. Some enclosures are just brilliant for photographs, some less so. Some depend on where the animals are at the time, for instance the chimps. I suppose the best question to ask is what length lenses you are taking?

Whipsnade has some good locations with large enclosures, but does depend on where the animals are at the time. with your range on the sigma you shold be able to capture some good shots of some.

It does very much depend on what animals you want to photograph but the Sigma will certainly get you the range, I used it there myself earlier this year. I also got decent stuff with a 70-200. The Lions can be tricky as you have to photograph them through glass but the Tigers can be good, especially if you take them from the bridge that overlooks the enclosure. The smaller animals can be a lot easier, such as the Meerkats, but the Ring Tailed Lemurs are great as you can actually go in with them (I think it's only at lunchtime though).

I'm a zoo enthusiast first and a photographer second and was a volunteer at Whipsnade for a number of years. There is a zoo enthusiasts website (www.zoochat.com) that has several galleries from UK zoos, the quality of the pictures vary (zoo enthusiasts not toggers!) and some are of enclosures rather than animals ,but it should give you an idea of whats there. I tend to post my zoo photos on there (same nic) and placed some from my trip on new years day - crap light is my excuse!
