Been trying to get a decent one of these for a while...(y)

My mistake, got the two mixed. Pied is black back, White is grey back...

Yup, decent shots there(y)

The White is a Pied just a slightly different strain.

Nice images Martyn. There's been quite a few of these White Wags around just lately.

Pied Wagtail? Been trying to get a decent one of these for a while...

The sharp break between black and grey on the back of the neck make it a White Wagtail ... so I am reliably informed

Here is a Pied version

Nice shots Martyn, and informative text.(y) I think i read that the true form is the 'White', and the 'Pied' is a dark variant.

White Wagtail is the nominate form Motacilla alba alba and doesn't breed in the UK. The UK race is Motacilla alba yarrelli.
Nice shots Martyn, must be pretty scarce in the midlands as they tend to pass through the UK in more coastal locations.

Well caught Martyn, i see a few of these each year but have yet to photograph one succesfully. (y)

Nicely caught - was that at Belvide?

Yes Pete, it was on the island past the far hide, then very obligingly flew along and landed right in front of the hide :D

If you go out there, look out for the Nuthatch nesting, on the left as you walk down to the woodland feeders is a tree with four holes in, it is modifying the lower hole
