Who here has a Canon 40mm pankcake lens?

I'm going to Paris and am either going to take my G12 or invest in the 40mm pancake and take my 1d mk III with me.

Anyone got the 40mm and willing to share their experiences? Is it a good lens for travel? Will it work on a 1D mk III as I've read various issues regarding autofocus.

Any advice, pictures much appreciated

I've got one on my 5D2, makes far easier to carry for extended periods of time. I've found mine gives great pictures, very sharp with good bokeh.

No issues with focusing, it's not USM fast but faster than the 50 1.8. Main down side is its only f2.8
 
I have one and on my 1Ds it's lovely, it will be a beauty of a travel lens, it's not as quick to focus as my nifty 1.4 and obviously not as capable in low light but I am very attached to its colour rendition and size/weight..

I like it less on the 7D, still a great performer but I feel it loses something with the crop factor..
 
I am using one and love it. I only buy cheap lenses so have nothing expensive to compare with but it does everything I need it to. Agree that it is very sharp and better bokeh than the even cheaper 50 1.8

I actually like the focal length on a crop (but that was coming from a 50 which having the 40 has proved to me that 50 wasn't what I needed)

I find the focus fast and pretty quiet (don't really notice the noise at all when out and about)

If you are travelling with a 1D it would be a great lens to keep the overall size and weight to a minimum. I am a one lens person and I can't see me using anything else now.
