Yes
Are there many user on here that use a Linux as there preferred operating system including processing their digital images??

For the record I run Mepis 8 and use Digikam for album storage, have used Gimp and Rawtherapee for image work, and Quanta for Web design. But I must be honest and say that I still use Photoshop Elements for most of my image processing.

Sorry, no it's OS X and Windows XP here.

I did try Linux about 8 years ago but switched back as I didn't have enough time to work out its idiosyncrasies.

It has certainly progressed over the years and the enhancements in the later versions certainly seem to make it a fairly viable alternative.

I use Linux on my development box at work (web dev) and it's great for stuff like that but having used it for quite a while, i doubt i'd ever use it as my main op for Photography workflow. :)

I use Ubuntu and OS X at work (research) side by side, and OS X at home (fun + website dev).

Qwerty69 - Yes, Linux has come along way since then, but it still isn't ready for primetime for most people I don't think. You sometimes can't avoid getting your hands dirty in config files etc.

I use linux at work sometimes and usually give the latest distros a whirl every couple of years....and last time I tried it none of them were yet up to scratch.

Tis nice with all the LiveCDs availabel now that you can just try them out without any hassle.

Thought it would have. I work in IT and am very accustomed to working in a Unix Environment but just couldn't put in the effort to get the system working in the way I'd like.

I may try again though with one of the more modern distributions.
